निकट भविष्यमा हुने गैर आवासीय नेपाली संघ (एनआरएन) राष्ट्रिय समन्वय परिषद अमेरिकाको अध्यक्ष पदमा न्यूयोर्कमा रहनु भएका कानुन व्यवसायी खगेन्द्र जीसीले आफ्नो औपचारिक उम्मेद्वारीको घोषणा गर्नु भएको छ| जीसी अमेरिकाको नेपाली समुदायमा स्थापित र नेपाली समुदायको पहिलो अध्यागमन वकिल पनि हुनुहुन्छ | नेपाली जनसम्पर्क समिति अमेरिकाका पूर्व संयोजक र गत संविधान सभा निर्वाचनमा कांग्रेस पार्टीका लागि अमेरिकाबाट आर्थिक संकलन गर्न पार्टीले गठन गरेको निर्वाचन कोष निर्माण समिति, अमेरिकाका संयोजक समेत रहनु भएका जीसी विगत तीस वर्षदेखि अमेरिकाको नेपाली समुदायमा निरन्तर सक्रिय हुनहुन्छ | क्षेत्रीले आफू अध्यक्ष पदमा निर्वाचित भएमा कुनै राजनीतिक दलको कुनै पदमा नरहने घोषणा गर्दै भन्नुभयो –“एनआरएनलाई राजनीतिमुक्त बनाउनका लागि एनआरएन भित्र कुनै राजनीतिक धारणा घुसाइनेछैन । व्यक्तिगत आस्था रहेपनि राजनीतिक दलसँग पदीय आवद्धता रहनेछैन । ”

Dear Fellow Non Resident Nepali (NRN), People of Nepali Origin (PNO), Friends and well-wishers:
This year, the NRN election is something different. Unlike in years past, they are not only about electing the next set of officers. They are about the future of the NRN in the USA and how to deal with growing needs of Nepali community and ensure their rights in Nepal.

Now, NRN has gained the reputation as an organization that does little for the Nepali in the USA. Nepali in Nepal think that the NRN in the USA are least interested to invest in Nepal and are not doing enough about Nepal. Many of you are unhappy with the way it is working today. I am seeking the Presidency to change that. My visions of the Presidency are based on advocacy and service. I look to work on behalf of, and provide services to the NRN and PNO community.

During my 30 years in the USA, I have watched NRN community grow slowly to where it is today. I have watched NRN/PNO have worked hard to build it to the level it is today. But we have not reached to the level where the NRN organization in the USA needs to be to lead the NRN community in the world.

This change must come from the leadership. I will be such a President. I will set both long and short term goals to be achieved. I will work to achieve a level of positive activity unprecedented in past years. I approach this position with dedication, commitment, and fresh idea for the future. I ask for your help in achieving the following goals:

1. “Once a Nepali Always a Nepali” must be included in the constitution of Nepal.

2. Nepal Government needs to enter into treaty with USA concerning double taxation, social security withholding and treaty traders visa.

3. NRN and PNO must have rights to own and sale property without any restrictions and must be given equal rights, respect and dignity in Nepal.

4. Foreign Investment laws must be liberalized and the Government of Nepal should eliminate red tape and NRN/PNO investment friendly laws and regulations are needed.

5. Make NRN/PNO an effective and organized community in the USA.

6. Make NRN/PNO, a non-political and non-profit organization, more effective and NRN/PNOS’ need oriented.

TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS, I AM DECLARING MY CANDIDACY FOR THE POSITION OF PRESIDENT OF NRN CC USA. I REQUEST ALL NRN/PNO– NEPALIS IN THE USA TO BECOME ITS MEMBER BY MARCH 4, 2014, AND CAST YOUR VOTE IN THE NEXT ELECTION TO BRING A CHANGE.

Who can become a member?

To be an Individual Member, one must be: (a) at least 18 years old and, (b) a NRN in the USA at least one year, or (c) if you are a Lawful Permanent resident of USA, you can become a member immediately (no one year requirement) or (d) a U.S. citizen or person of Nepali Origin shall be eligible to be member of NRN America immediately.
