I am Desh Raj Sonyok Limbu. I was brought up in Himalayan country, Nepal. I am a civil/geotechnical engineer with over ten years of research, teaching, and professional experience in the areas of tunneling, pavement condition evaluation, advanced geotechnical laboratory testing, instrumentation and monitoring, geo-structural analysis and design, and infrastructure economics. I have earned my Ph. D. in civil engineering with specialization in geotechnical engineering from New Mexico State University, USA.

My professional interest are tunneling, hydropower, roadway infrastructure, non-destructive testing, ground improvement, geo-structural design/analysis, and infrastructure economics. Besides my professional career, I have interest in socio-politics, ancient world history, cross-cultural study, martial arts, etc. I am also deeply interested in digital diaspora networks and diaspora engagement in economic development through investment, knowledge flows, and technology transfer.

I have an extensive leadership experience in various social, political, and professional organizations. Recently I am appointed as a Chairman of “Science, Technology, and Economic Policy Committee” of Non-Resident Nepali National Coordination Council of the USA. I am committed to work towards harnessing Nepali diaspora intellectual and financial resources to support development efforts in Nepal.

I started this blog for self expression and my personal development. I hope this blog would also be helpful to interact with Nepalese and other international society. In this blog I will basically focus on issues related to the development of Nepal, engineering, science and technology, and martial arts. Feel free to comment on my postings.
